Myers Photography & Design Ltd, trading as Colin Myers Photography, is the controller of personal information collected when you visit colinmyers.com, contact us, join a newsletter, buy a product, book a tour, workshop or access the online courses. We handle information under the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations where applicable. Visiting the site is not consent to every use described below.

Information we collect and why

Browsing: IP address, device and browser details, requested pages, technical logs and cookie choices help us run, secure and troubleshoot the site. This is based on our legitimate interests in site operation and security. We seek consent for optional analytics or marketing storage where required.

Enquiries: Your name, email address, message and information you include help us reply or discuss an order or project. We use it for steps toward a contract where relevant, otherwise for our legitimate interest in handling enquiries.

Orders: We use contact, billing and delivery details, items and choices ordered, payment status, order history and support messages to take payment, fulfil orders, give support and keep required accounts. The bases are contract and legal obligation. Fraud prevention and disputes may also involve legitimate interests.

Tours and workshops: We use the date, experience, guest count, contact and payment details and any practical information you choose to provide to manage your booking and deliver the service under our contract. Contact us to discuss accessibility or practical arrangements.

Online courses: Purchase and access details, your account or access identifier and support messages allow us to provide and support private access under our contract. The course pages explains that private notes and progress are saved in your browser.

Newsletters: We use your email address, any name, topic choice or country you supply and signup and unsubscribe records to send the updates you requested. The basis is consent. You can unsubscribe using an email link or contact us.

Requests and complaints: We use relevant orders and correspondence to resolve complaints, refunds and legal rights. Depending on the issue, the basis is our contract, a legal duty or our legitimate interests in handling and defending claims. We do not sell personal information.

Payments and other recipients

Stripe and PayPal provide checkout payment options. The provider you choose receives what is needed to process and support the transaction, such as amount, billing details and transaction identifiers. Its own privacy policy applies to its service. We receive a payment result and transaction record. We do not store payment-card numbers on our website, although a provider may save payment details if you choose that option with it.

• Our printing partners receive the image/product specification and recipient name and delivery address when they produce and ship goods directly.
• Postal and delivery services receive recipient and parcel details. We normally fulfil calendars, jigsaws and cards ourselves after production.
• Our website host, technical support, security and backup providers may process site and order information to operate and protect the website.
• Newsletter subscriptions and sends are managed in WordPress. We do not use an outside newsletter marketing service. Subscriber email addresses are not sold or given to an outside marketing list. Hosting and email infrastructure necessarily handles the messages it sends.
• WPForms handles contact form submissions. Google reCAPTCHA helps reduce spam on that form and may receive technical data when it loads.
• The current site loads Trustpilot review widgets; Trustpilot may receive technical information when a widget loads.
• Accountants, professional advisers, payment or fraud services and authorities may receive relevant information where necessary or legally required.

We do not give the newsletter list to Stripe or PayPal. A chosen payment provider receives only what is needed for a separate transaction. Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, we use a UK-recognised adequacy arrangement or other lawful transfer safeguard. Contact us for information about arrangements relevant to your data.

Cookies and similar technology

Essential cookies and local storage support the basket, checkout, security and account login. Optional analytics, embedded content or marketing technology may also be present. Trustpilot widgets and Google reCAPTCHA may use device information or storage when they load. You can manage cookies in your browser, though blocking essential cookies may stop shopping or login from working. We are reviewing the site’s optional technologies and consent controls.

How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as needed for its purpose, then delete unless law or a genuine dispute requires longer. Order and accounting records are kept for tax, accounting and relevant claim periods. Enquiry messages are kept for a reasonable period after closure, newsletter details until you unsubscribe or a list is retired and technical logs for a limited security period. A minimal suppression record may be kept to honour an unsubscribe.

Your rights

Subject to legal conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or transfer of your information and object to some uses. You may withdraw consent at any time. You have an absolute right to object to direct marketing. We may need to retain order records where law requires it. Use Contact Us or write to the office address above. We will verify your identity before disclosing account or order details to protect your privacy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site, providers or legal duties change. The current version and date will appear here. If a change materially affects information already collected, we will provide any notice or choice required by law.
